Abstract
The Adelaide Gay Community Periodic Survey is a cross-sectional survey of gay and homosexually active men. From the first survey in 1998, the project has been funded by the South Australian Department of Health and implemented in collaboration with the AIDS Council of South Australia. The major aim of the survey is to provide data on sexual, drug use and testing practices related to the transmission of HIV and other sexually transmissible infections (STIs) among gay men. Up until recently the survey has been conducted every two years, but in 2010 it was agreed that recruitment would occur annually to improve monitoring and reporting. Sample Population: 1,036 gay and homosexually-active men from Adelaide. Method of Data Collection: Self-completion. Kind of Data: Survey.Sampling Procedures: Men were recruited through: the Adelaide Feast Festival (particularly the Festival ‘hub’, Higher Ground, and Picnic in the Park) and from gay social venues, sex-on-premises venues and sexual health clinics. Time Dimensions: Repeated cross-sectional study. http://csrh.arts.unsw.edu.au/research/publications/gcps/
