Abstract
Laboratory flume tests have been carried out for three types of soil, namely Condobolin soils, a loose alluvium from natural deposit and a representative sand of uniform grain size to evaluate the limiting gradients under the condition of incipient motion. The results may be used to establish design slopes for approaches to farm dams such that only the finest material is carried into the farm storage. These results are only applicable to soils having similar properties as tested.
