dc.description.abstract This paper reviews discusses the emergence of a distinctive band of older suburban areas in Australian cities and contrast this to the debate in the US on “first Suburbs”, basically urban areas built in the period just before and in the twenty years after the 2 World War. The paper argues for a new policy focus on these areas in Australian cities. en_US
