Abstract
Comprehensive topographic, hydrographic, hydraulic (model) economic studies for mitigating flood damage. Reproducing disastrous 1929 flood and maximum probable flood in North Esk and South Esk Rivers. Hydraulic efficiencies of various methods of mitigation tested, each with scale model and cost benefit analysis. Recommendations for levees for an estimated maximum flood of 250,00 cusecs. The wisdom of expenditure on thorough preliminary research was forcibly demonstrated.
