dc.description.abstract Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with complex metabolic changes including insulin resistance. Siew et al. have highlighted an important relationship between insulin resistance and skeletal muscle protein turnover. If insulin resistance is implicated in sarcopenia of CKD, further research will be required to determine whether interventions that improve insulin sensitivity improve clinical outcomes and cardiovascular risk in CKD. en_US
