Abstract
The Perth Gay Community Periodic Survey is a cross-sectional survey of gay and
homosexually active men recruited at a range of gay community sites in Perth. The
project is funded by the Western Australian Department of Health and supported
by the Western Australian Centre for Health Promotion Research and the Western
Australian AIDS Council. The Centre for Social Research in Health coordinates the
survey with support from The Kirby Institute.
The major aim of the survey is to provide data on sexual, drug use and testing
practices related to the transmission of HIV and other sexually transmissible infections (STIs) among gay men. The most recent survey, the ninth in Perth, was conducted in February 2014, recruiting 681 men from gay social venues (e.g. bars), sex-on-premises venues, a sexual health clinic and Perth Pride Fair Day. The data presented in this report are based on last 5 surveys conducted between 2006 and 2014.
